Welcome to our site and to our world of Budgerigars Crag3 is now 4yrs established with very good bloodlines: Here we are playing Chicken with the Trian at Knaresborough Train Station! Brown-Mannes-Tuplin-Healed-Oxby-Shepherdson These Form our Base Healed-Oxby-Shepherdson We feel these studs are all well founded and have a link: meet us this is a site for our wedding pics Carl is very good at what he does and can provide any photography for any event: http://carlrafferty.com/kj/ Kev has kept birds most of his life with a mixed aviary, I also bred Dutch Rabbits as a lad I enjoyed this and did a little showing in Knaresborough and got my Rabbits from Fred Brown. We enjoy the Breeding part most I think Jo likes the shows but this has become less over a period of time but we as a team enjoy the birds and know we need to continue showing to reflect our improvements.
I have always had pets since I was small but never kept birds until I got together with Kev. I always liked birds but never knew that there was such a thing as Budgie shows and clubs. We started off with a variety of different birds in an aviary but I soon realised that the Budgie was the one for me. I was amazed by all the different colours and varieties and this inspired me to have a go at breeding them. What I think I enjoy the most in the hobby with breeding is the excitement of wondering what variety and colour the chicks are going to be and are they going to be what you hoped for - a show winner? I have, without a doubt, got the bug! I am totally involved in the budgies, alongside Kev and enjoy the birds and feel us as a team work very well and having won many 1sts and also Best in sections we hope to move up a notch soon and compete with the next Chapter in the hobby. We hope we can bring something to the hobby and also the club scenes. I feel we in time will progress further but time is what it takes to build a stud of Exhibition Budgerigars. I also enjoy carp fishing and have been known to catch 20lbsers! We also have 3 Yorkshire Terriers. The first one, Tiny, bred 2 litters, of each, we kept one pup - Ruby and then Murphy. I feel that this was also a big achievement for us to do together. We also have an array of reptiles - too many to mention!!! Most people refer to us as being "Knaresborough Zoo".
The Cragstud progression We look forward to each breeding season as the highs and lows they bring the highs are really welcomed and the lows also. As much can be learned from both in my book.
We have been Beginners for some time now and are considering the move to Novice: We are really looking forward to the move and when we do will hope we have moved on: There are so many that promote the great Hobby of breeding and showing the Budgerigar. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact us. If you have pet birds and are unaware of the Exhibition Budgerigar please ask as I have known so many to keep birds but are not aware of this type of bird or the fact we have shows etc. Please Ask questions all you new to the Hobby as it is an open option and if you don't ask you will never know...... If we can help in anyway please use our Contact form this is my replacement for my Guest book previously held.
We offer free advice and welcome constructive criticism.
